The Tagged Experiment

I have myspace, facebook, twitter, tagged, hi5, netlog, flixter, and woome accounts, among others. Generally, I join these sites to connect with friends and family back home in St.Lucia, or those friends I don't regularly see here in the U.S.. Sometimes, I join because of a request from a email conatct to do so or just to see what all the hype is about. Sure, I've exchanged messages back and forth on these sites with people I don't know and I do think it is a good way to meet people from different countries, backgrounds and cultures you other wise would not have met. Nonetheless, I had never had contact with a stranger met on a social networking site {or online as a matter of fact} on the phone or in person.
So when I met someone on tagged and became really interested in them I was reluctant to advance the blossoming attraction by having a conversation on the phone. Curiosity got the better of me and we exchanged numbers. I thought , how far will this go, will it be a quick fling, will it be restricted to the phone or will we eventually meet? Since I am a new blog addict I decided to blog about it. Stick with me through the awkward first phone call, the getting to know each other and the evolving of feelings. This is what I call The Tagged Experiment {best name I could come up with, lol}.

The First Phone Call

Finally , the first phone call! I had lost my cell phone months ago and didn't want him to call my house late at night, so we agreed that I would call him. I was not exactly nervous but I was anxious about how things might transpire. While dialing the number I found myself thinking, 'what am I doing?,' or 'he could be a pedophile.' My mind went into overdrive, thinking of the worst possible scenarios  as the phone began to ring. Then a voice on the other line said hello.
I was unsure about how to respond, this is the awkward part I hate so much. The best I could come up with is 'I'm the girl from tagged.' His response was somewhere along the lines of  'hey what's up?' It was only awkward for about 2 minutes. After that exchange we got into the basics of getting to know each other i.e. likes and dislikes. He is of hatian-jamaican decent and was born in America. From what I saw on his tagged profile he didn't sound like he looked, which i know probably sounds weird. His voice has an element of that late night radio host playing slow jams, i love it. Altohugh he said the same about me, that I don't sound like I look {not that I sound like a late night radio host}.
Most times I feel like I have to carry the conversation when I talk to a guy, but this time it didn't feel like that. It just flowed, we never ran out of things to talk about and there were no awkward silences. We spoke for hours and didn't event talk about sex. The only funny thing is that the phone kept getting cut off because of bad signals, he lives in Davenport and I live in Orlando. All in all I'm glad I took the risk, because we clicked after the awkward introduction and he seems like a prett interesting guy. I'm looking foward to talking to him again.
